The Art of Authentic Leadership
Jimi Bolusire
General Secretary
Authentic leadership begins with self-knowledge. Leaders who understand their own values, strengths, and blind spots are better equipped to inspire others and to make decisions that stand the test of time.
Vulnerability — long considered a weakness — is increasingly recognised as a leadership strength. When leaders admit uncertainty, ask for help, and share their own journeys openly, they build the psychological safety that high-performing teams require.
Within MoHC, authentic leadership is not a leadership style — it is a prerequisite for membership. Our charter demands that each member leads with honesty in every dimension of their professional life.
Cultivating authenticity takes deliberate practice: seeking candid feedback, reflecting regularly on your decisions, and surrounding yourself with people who will tell you the truth rather than what you wish to hear.
